Franklin Creek Conservation Association operates as a “friends group” to the Franklin Creek State Natural Area in order to preserve and restore this unique and beautiful area. We support Illinois Department of Natural Resources’ (IDNR) work to manage the 900+ acre State Natural Area (SNA) and to attract and educate visitors. We operate a welcome and education center for the SNA at the Franklin Creek Grist Mill, hosting events such as nature walks, festivals, educational workshops, and stewardship days and by bringing grants, volunteers and other resources as needed. We also purchase and restore conservation land to add to the SNA when the IDNR has funds to purchase it.
