This beautiful piece of land is where the last of three smaller creeks join before Franklin Creek flows through the State Natural Area. There are signs along the trail to guide you on your way. There is a small (1-2 foot) creek crossing, surrounded by wetland, prairie, and woodlands. There are several species of asters, goldenrods, and sunflowers to see in the fall. When you cross the creek during the summer months, be sure to watch for ebony jewelwing damselflies. For more information please watch this short video or give us a call at 815.456.2718.
The Headwaters property is owned by FCCA and open to the public for recreation. There are no restrooms. Bikes, motorized vehicles, and unleashed dogs are not allowed on the trails. |
